History of Our Hotel and Restaurant
A house rich in tradition
The Hauslwirt has a history dating back to the year 1350.
In the 18th century it was still called “Rindviehwirt” (cattle inn), but around 1740 a certain Kaspar Hauser bought the inn and renamed it “Hauslwirt”
The room now serving as dining hall was used as horsestable until 1930. Horses could be changed before the long and exhausting journey over Pass Lueg. Large doorway arches in the centre of Golling are remnants from that time.
The year 1938 saw the arrival of Elisabeth and Josef Reiter who acquired the house from the Seifried family. During World War II the few guest rooms were used as a military hospital. In 1945 the inn disposed of only 5 guest rooms.
Already 6 years after the end of the war renovation expenditures were made. The house disposed of
- rooms with washing facility
- chilled drinks and
- homestyle cooking
Mrs Reiter was an excellent cook and was pleased to spoil her guests. The business flourished because of its owners industriousness, perseverance and courage to take risks.
In 1978 the house was handed over to their son Gerhard Reiter and his wife Gerlinde. It was their primary aim to increase bed capacity and standard of the facilities. Off-season was used for renovations and additions and bed capacity was increased from 29 in the main hotel and 8 in the guesthouse to more than 80 beds.
In the meantime the next generation, their son Josef, has taken over hotel management. Since then various renovations and improvements have been carried out.
